What to Keep Ready for Your Bridal or Party Makeup Appointment
A simple checklist of what to keep ready before your bridal or party makeup appointment — skin, hair, outfit, room setup and small essentials that save time.

Whether your artist is coming to your home, a hotel or a banquet, a little preparation saves a surprising amount of time — and stress. Here’s the checklist I share with brides and party clients before every booking.
Your skin
- Clean, moisturised face. Wash with your usual cleanser and apply a light moisturiser.
- No makeup, primer or heavy sunscreen on top — your artist will prep the skin properly.
- No new products in the last two weeks. (Here’s why skin prep matters.)
- Lip balm the night before for smooth lips.
Your hair
- Wash the night before, not on the morning. Slightly “day-old” hair holds styles much better.
- Make sure it’s completely dry.
- Avoid oil or heavy serum.
- If you want extra volume or length, tell your artist in advance about extensions or a hair donut.
Your outfit and accessories
Lay everything out in one place:
- Lehenga / saree, blouse and petticoat
- Dupatta(s)
- Jewellery — necklace, earrings, maang-tikka, nath, bangles, kaleere
- Hair accessories or fresh flowers / gajra
- Safety pins and U-pins (lots of them!)
- Footwear
For brides: wear a front-open shirt during makeup, so nothing has to go over your head afterwards.
Your room
- A chair near a window or good light
- A plug point nearby
- A small table or surface for the kit
- As few people in the room as possible — it helps everyone focus
Small essentials
- Water with a straw (so you don’t disturb your lipstick)
- A light snack — you’ll be sitting for a while
- Tissues
- Your phone charged, for the photographer and family coordination
- Your own lipstick or compact for touch-ups later in the evening
Information to share in advance
Before the day, send your artist on WhatsApp:
- Date, venue and location pin
- Time you need to be ready (and the muhurat for brides)
- Outfit and jewellery photos
- Any skin allergies or sensitivities
- Number of people getting ready, if it’s a family booking
At GlamParul, travel within Faridabad, Delhi and Gurugram is included, so we just need your location and timing to plan the team. For timing help, read our wedding-morning timeline.
After makeup
- Don’t rub your eyes or touch your face.
- Blot (don’t wipe) if you feel shiny.
- Sip water through a straw.
- Enjoy yourself — you’re ready!
